Our client builds an API that turns complex enterprise documents — PDFs, spreadsheets, scanned forms — into LLM-ready inputs with exceptional accuracy, processing tens of millions of pages a month for customers ranging from startups to Fortune 10 enterprises. They're a 75-person, San Francisco-based team founded in 2023 that has raised $108M from investors including a16z, Benchmark, and First Round.
Role responsibilities
- Own and improve the core platform that runs customer document-processing jobs, ensuring speed, reliability, and cost efficiency at scale
- Work with ML teams to serve in-house models efficiently and integrate them into production pipelines
- Build and maintain infrastructure including databases, task orchestration, workload scheduling, and cloud deployments
- Drive improvements to distributed systems — tackling latency, reliability, and scaling challenges as volume grows
- Participate in on-call rotations and own platform health end-to-end
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in platform or backend engineering with distributed systems
- Experience at a company known for mature, high-scale systems (e.g. Stripe, Ramp, Robinhood) is a strong plus
- High attention to detail — in document parsing, small formatting differences carry real financial consequences
- Comfortable holding technical conversations directly with enterprise customers
Tech stack: Python
Compensation: $220K–$320K base (may exceed range for exceptional candidates) plus competitive equity. Visa sponsorship available; H-1B transfers supported (new H-1B sponsorship follows the next lottery cycle).
Work policy: 5 days/week in-office in San Francisco, CA.
Interview process: recruiter screen, hiring manager and technical screen, full-day onsite.
