Compensation
$250,000 - $325,000
Employment type

  • Remote

Our client builds an AI-powered creative strategy platform used by major paid-social advertisers to analyze more than $11B in ad spend a year. This role owns the application code behind their always-on, per-customer virtual environments — persistent cloud infrastructure at scale with no existing playbook to follow. They're a 60-person team, founded in 2021, that has raised $42M including a recent $30M Series B.

Role responsibilities

  • Write the application code that manages VM lifecycle, container updates, queues, observability, and security for always-on customer environments — scaling from roughly 500 to 2,000-3,000 environments in the coming weeks
  • Design and ship reliable abstractions around messaging queues, locks, background tasks, and service-bus mechanics for other engineers to build on
  • Evolve infrastructure-as-code patterns (Pulumi), setting standards other engineers follow
  • Work deep in Linux systems — containers, networking, persistent storage, permissions, and runtime debugging
  • Collaborate on a small, high-ownership, cross-functional team with weekly shipping cycles

Requirements

  • 6-12 years of experience owning core infrastructure
  • A developer-first engineer — roughly 60% backend, 40% infrastructure — not a traditional DevOps/SRE profile
  • Comfortable owning infrastructure with no existing playbook, ideally from prior experience as an early engineer at a startup

Tech stack: Node.js, TypeScript, Azure, Pulumi, Docker, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, Linux, Kubernetes

Compensation: $250K–$325K base (the company will pay significantly above band for the right person) plus competitive equity. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Work policy: fully remote (Canada or United States), with Eastern time overlap expected.

Interview process: recruiter screen, hiring manager screen with the CTO, technical interview, final interview with the CEO.
