A growing organization in New York is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee its accounting and financial operations. This role will be responsible for managing the general ledger, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strengthening internal controls, and supporting strategic financial planning. The Controller will partner closely with leadership to maintain financial integrity and help guide the company’s continued growth.
Role responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and financial reporting across multiple sites
- Prepare and review consolidated GAAP financial statements and ensure timely month-end and year-end close.
- Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls; manage annual audits and external advisors.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis in partnership with leadership.
- Manage and develop accounting staff and partner with operations to support business objectives.
- Lead finance systems strategy, including ERP, AP, payroll, and reporting tools.
- Manage data integrity, system implementations, and migrations, ensuring accuracy, controls, and scalability.
- Drive process improvement, automation, and standardized reporting across communities.
- Track capital expenditures and support liquidity planning and reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 10 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior management or controller role.
- Experience in property level accounting
- Prior experience in multi-site operations strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Netsuite Oracle, AVID, Ramp, Sage Intacct, Aline (or comparable senior living software) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
